ROCKINGHAM – FirstHealth of the Carolinas is thrilled to welcome Colleen Brown, FNP to FirstHealth OB/GYN in Rockingham.
Brown joins the team of Mohamed Ibrahim, M.D., William Johnstone, Jr., M.D., and Laura Marks, WHNP at the clinic located at 921 S. Long Drive, Suite 205 in Rockingham.
Originally from Bakersville, Calif., Brown moved to Rockingham during her childhood, establishing strong roots in the community.
She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Brown's nursing career began with four years of service as a cardiac and emergency room nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
Following her time at MUSC, she returned home to Richmond County and worked for FirstHealth as a registered nurse for 11 years. She has spent the last two years as a travel nurse.
Brown’s commitment to her profession is evident as she recently earned a master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in family nurse practitioner from Maryville University.
She said she’s always had an interest in women’s health, but it was during her clinical rotation with Laura Marks, WHNP with FirstHealth OB/GYN that she fell in love with the specialty.
“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to come home to FirstHealth and serve in women’s care,” she said.
Brown and her husband have three daughters and reside in Ellerbe. In her free time, she enjoys crafts, sewing and knitting.
