Advanced Technology for Early Detection of Heart Failure
For people with heart failure, changes in fluid pressure can signal distress, even before the patient can notice any signs or symptoms. FirstHealth is the first health care system in the area to offer advanced technology for fast detection of possible problems and potentially avoiding hospitalization.
CardioMEMS™ (micro-electro-mechanical system) is a small device implanted directly into the pulmonary artery to monitor any changes to fluid pressure in the lungs. Without needing to visit the clinic or hospital, the device regularly sends information wirelessly to FirstHealth. We use the information to adjust medications and a treatment plan if necessary.
ReDS™ (remote dielectric sensing) is wearable technology to monitor changes in fluid pressure. When you visit the Heart Failure Clinic or hospital, we place the vest over your shoulder to get accurate and actionable measurements of your lung fluid in just 45 seconds.
Armed with information from CardioMEMS or ReDs, we can adjust and optimize your treatment plan.
